GETMAD is on Hold.

Safety has always been a top priority for the Redmond Cycling Club and for every event we bring to our community.

But we have run into an issue.

The route that takes riders to Mowich Lake via SR 165 has been identified by Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) as a safety concern. Due to the closure of the Fairfax Bridge, debris and other hazards have accumulated along portions of the corridor. WSDOT has indicated that maintenance work would be required before the route could safely accommodate an organized cycling event. And unfortunately, WSDOT will not be able to do the required work until late July during our ride. The ride also cannot push into August because of fire danger season.

RCC does not believe that the corridor is a safety issue in it’s current condition.

Unfortunately, this puts GETMAD 2026 in jeopardy. We are currently waiting for WSDOT to respond to our request to reschedule their work to a different time. Ironically, one of the reasons cited for performing the maintenance is to support the ride itself. Additionally, when we scouted the route in May, we found the gravel corridor to be in acceptable condition and RCC identified no issues that would have prevented the event from being held safely. However, we are still waiting for WSDOT to respond.

We believe GETMAD has the potential to become an incredible event, and the enthusiasm from the cycling community reinforced that belief. We are effectively SOLD OUT at this point.

Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding as we work through these challenges. We will continue to keep the community informed as we learn more and evaluate next steps.

President Redmond Cycling Club
